Cheers to 2024 !

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

2023 is over! Yay!! Best news of the year if you ask me. It was a rough year for many of us, and I personally have never been so excited to ring in a new one. According to numerology, 2023 was a “7” year (2+0+2+3=7), linked to introspection & turning inward but with limited personal growth. 2024, an “8” year, should bring us the success, power and authenticity we deserve after all this deep digging. Some predict a small-business and entrepreneurship boom, and I can already announce that I’ll be part of that trend. Stay tuned later this month for the unveiling of my new project. I cannot wait to officially get started!

I wish you the usual healthy and happy new year, of course, but also more specifically self-acceptance, self-love and personal growth.

THE WORDS OF YOGA

Namaste

Namaste is a widespread word in the yoga culture, but its use in studios in the West is more and more questioned. It is something a teacher may automatically say at the end of class without questioning its actual meaning or origin. However originally Namaste is used as an introductory greeting, when meeting or encountering someone we highly respect, not when leaving.

It translates as “ I bow to you”, sometimes also as “the divine in me bows to the divine in you” and is a sacred saying, that should be used wisely. The gesture associated with Namaste is called Anjali mudra, palms together in prayer at the heart center, head bowed. I personally have stopped saying Namaste in my classes, and instead always end with 3 deep collective breaths and a warm thank you. It simply feels more authentic to me.

If you’re interested, check out this video to go further into when and how to use Namaste.

A FEW THINGS I ENJOYED LATELY

This podcast, this book, and also this book have been amongst my favorites this year.

And a quote, why not.

"If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves" Maria Edgeworth.
